T-78 Polymer Crack Sealer

T-78 Polymer Crack Sealer is a specially formulated, low viscosity, low surface tension methyl methacrylate (MMA) reactive resin system that is highly effective for sealing and filling cracks and pores in concrete structures.

The very low viscosity and surface tension of T-78 allows it to easily penetrate and fill deep cracks in the concrete substrate. It bonds well to the inner walls of the cracks thereby restoring some of the original
strength and preventing crack propagation. The significantly lower modulus and increased tensile elongation of T-78 provides better compatibility with moving cracks and thermal stresses.

T-78 Polymer Crack Sealer is easy to handle in all working conditions and requires no special equipment. Its rapid curing time assures a quick return to service.

Application Procedure

Surfaces receiving T-78 must be thoroughly cleaned and swept free of all dirt. Rust, grease, and contaminates that might interfere with the proper adhesion of the material must be removed by sandblasting or shot-blasting. T-78 Polymer Crack Sealer consists of two components: T-78 resin and T-78 Powder Hardener.

T-78 is available in 5 and 55 gallon containers. The powder hardener is provided in separately labeled containers or in pre-measured quantities.

T-78 resin must be mixed with the appropriate amount of powder hardener just prior to application. Application can be done manually, or by using a spray equipment.

Broadcast sand should be applied to the entire treated area prior to cure. It should be placed within minutes of the resin application and before any setting of the resin occurs.

Applications

The application process for T-78 requires minimal labor costs and reduces the need for specialized equipment. The use of T-78 on concrete structures reduces the chloride permeability of the structure thus protecting it from further deterioration. T-78 can be used for crack sealing and filling on numerous concrete structures:
