FreezeFree
Designed
as a permanent anti-icing installation to supply de-icing liquids on command
to a 200 foot long, two-lane target area (which can be expanded to four
or eight lanes with in-pavement nozzles). The Basic System consists of
a pump house with special chemical holding tank, electrical pumping system
and a computer-based control system with programmable logic capability.
Steel pipes carry electrical wiring and chemical solutions to a number
of solenoids that control liquid dispensing nozzles in strategic areas.
Provides automatically calibrated
applications of de-icing liquids on targeted areas such as bridges, curves,
ramps, steep grades, and high-accident locations. The Automated System
includes all of the features of the Basic System, plus active pavement
sensors and a user-friendly, programmable controller that allows the system
to activate before the icing conditions occur.

The Automated System computer logs the event conditions for that date and
time, and can store log entries for more than 30 activations. The data can
then be retrieved via phone or fax. The system and its parameters can be
monitored remotely via the telephone.

For remote
locations, a fully self-contained system with a solar-charged, battery power
supply. The Nitro System may be activated by a remote telephone call to
a wireless paging device in the controller assembly or by manually pushing
a button on site. When activated, the de-icing agent is gravity-fed to a
vessel pressurized with nitrogen gas. A programmable logic controller monitors
and controls system fluid levels and pressure, energizing a sequence of
solenoid values to dispense de-icing liquid over the location.
